Vermicomposting : Understanding The Process:- Vermicomposting is a type of Composting in which certain species of Earthworms are used to enhance the process of Organic Waste Conversion and produce a better end-product. It is a Mesophilic process utilizing Microorganisms and Earthworms. Earthworms feeds on the Organic Waste Materials and passes it through their Digestive System and gives out in a granular form (cocoons) which is known as Vermicompost. Simply speaking, Vermicompost is Earthworm Excrement, called Castings, which can improve Biological, Chemical, and Physical Properties of the soil. The Chemical Secretions in the Earthworms Digestive tract help break down Soil and Organic matter, so the castings contain more Nutrients mainly Nitrogen that are immediately available to Plants. It uses the Earthworms to convert Biodegradable/Vegetable waste to a 100% Natural Plant Fertilizer.
Organic :- The most important aspect of compost produced by earthworms is that it is 100% organic. It is the first step to switch over to organic farming. There are no harmful chemicals and it does not need to be mixed with anything.
More Nutrients :- Vermicomposting produces a product that is naturally designed to benefit plants in several ways. The most significant benefit is that the nutrients in earthworm compost are very easily absorbed by the roots of plants. Unlike chemical fertilizers, vermicompost is not easily flushed from the soil because of the worm mucus that it contains. Plants have longer time to obtain the nutrients and get the maximum benefit.

What is Vermicomposting?
The process of cultivating earthworms to convert organic waste into fertilizer is called Vermicompost. This process is done using various species of worms, usually red wigglers, white worms, and other earthworms, to create a mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste. It feeds on debris, manure, rotten plant parts, etc. The worms feed on organic waste and produce nutrient-rich manure in the form of excreta. The excreta of earthworms are nutritious and hence the soil becomes fertile. They move throughout the soil and loosen the soil.
