Remarkable strides in the field of aquaculture made by J&K’s Sumaira Mohideen. A determined entrepreneur, Sumaira turned a rainbow trout fish farm into high-profit venture. Sumaira was forced to give up her dream of being a lawyer due to family’s financial condition. Availing the PMSSY benefit by the government, and she then decided to lead the family herself. Inspired by her success of one fish farm, her sister entered the business as well. The family now operates in total 4 fish farms and provides employment to others in the area. Under PMSSY, Sumaira received all necessary support, including financial assistance, training, and infrastructure. Sumaira’s fish farm is a testament to the success of empowering women in rural areas through government schemes.
