Dr. Shafaq Fatima is a researcher who graduated from the University of Tasmania, Australia, in Aquaculture. She is an aquaculture expert, entrepreneur, project developer and is currently a faculty member at the Department of Zoology in Lahore College for Women University. She has been an advocate in Pakistan for the aquaculture sector, which is facing challenges of water shortage, excessive land use, inability of species diversification, water contamination and intensive production. Dr. Shafaq has worked on the introduction of new In Pond Raceways System in Pakistan, an innovative aquaculture technology. The sustainability of aquaculture sector is at stake due to the predicted effects of climate change. In order to tackle this challenge the world needs to adopt more revolutionized and climate friendly fish farming methods.
